MMS 2nd Semester Updates
Principal's Corner: Mr. Schultz
MMS is excited to be offering a return to school with a face to face option starting Monday, January 25th. If you are planning to return face to face then you don’t have to do anything except show up Monday morning, front doors open at 7:45 AM. If you would like your child(ren) to remain virtual, you will need to complete the district form Dr. Wightman sent out: District Virtual Form. If you already completed the form, DO NOT complete it again. Teachers will send out new virtual links via student emails for second semester. Students need to keep those links, first semester links will not work! Virtual students will be following the same schedules as face to face students, just from at home- so check out schedules below.
We know there is a lot of anxiety at all levels about returning to school. We are all here to help and ease everyone into MMS. On Monday, January 25th we will be having a homeroom for all students attending face to face (see below for our first day schedule). In homeroom teachers will give out lock and locker information and other important information, please do not contact the office for lock and locker information. All teachers will be in the hallway between classes to help students find their next class. We will not be counting tardies the first week because we know there will be a transition.
We have also changed our weekly schedule to include ½ day Wednesdays. Students will attend from 8-11:10 AM either in person or virtually, whatever mode they normally do. Then in the afternoon teachers will be able to work virtually with student(s) who need extra help or support. This also gives our custodial staff a chance to deep clean the buildings mid-week. Lunches will be available to students as they leave.
We have taken many precautions to create the safest possible learning environment, but schools are not set up for social distancing, so it will not be perfect. The biggest challenge will be the proper wearing of masks. All students are required to wear a mask covering their nose and mouth. This is the best way to prevent the spread of Covid- so Mask Up MMS!
MMS has created a Return to Learn Safely Plan. Please take a moment to look through this document. It will answer a lot of questions about how MMS will run its day!
If your child is sick and not going to be in school, please call the MMS office and report your child's absence. Please be specific on why your child will not be attending: "My child, child's full name, is vomiting and has a slight fever" don't call in and say "My child is sick." The more detailed the better. Our phone number to call is 364-6336 and then choose the attendance line option.
Please look through this newsletter for important information!

Assistant Principal's Corner: Mr. Frikken
Our teachers are taking attendance each class period. If your child has remained virtual and is having a difficult time entering their teacher's Zoom or Google Meet class, make sure they are emailing their teacher to tell the teacher they had difficulties logging in. This is especially important for attendance. If your child does not attend a class it does count as an absence. It is very important for the parents to notify the school if their child was absent for that class due to difficulties logging in. For all absences it is required to call the school when your student is absent in order for the absence to be excused. Marysville Public School District places great importance on attendance in school. The State of Michigan requires all children to maintain regular attendance in school with less than 10 absences per school year. Please check your students Skyward daily to make sure he or she is attending class on a regular basis.
Athletics Update: Mr. Frikken
