Teachers and staff are looking forward to seeing students back on campus on Monday, October 16th (Air Quality Permitting). It will be a "Blue" day and we will be back on our normal schedule for the rest of the year.
In my all of my years being a student and educator in schools, I have never experienced a school closure. That being said, I appreciate our district putting student safety first in making the decision to close schools.
Most importantly, I am saddened by the destruction that our Sonoma, Napa, and Santa Rosa neighbors have suffered over the past week. The devastating stories of casualties, homes destroyed and lives turned upside down has been hard to digest. Everyone I talk to seems to have a friend, a relative or an acquaintance who has been impacted.
Finally, I am inspired by our community members and their efforts to give time, supplies and financial contributions to those in need. In challenging moments, the collective power of human kindness can do incredible things.
Have a safe weekend.
Mr. Honey

After School Safety Concerns:
Over the past two weeks, I have had several parents contact me about unsafe behavior after school. Several of our students have been reported running in the streets, crossing against a red light and even lying down in the roadway. While we have good supervision on campus, school officials can not monitor the downtown Pleasant Hill area after school. If your student is meeting downtown for their ride home, please review safety procedures with them. We don't want any of our students getting hurt!

Sequoia Strong Character Education for October: Responsibility
Responsibility is taking ownership of thoughts, words, and actions. This trait is essential for becoming a healthy, happy, and productive person. Responsibility begins with “little things” like taking care of your belongings, working with a good attitude, resolving conflicts peacefully, and owning up to mistakes. Taking responsibility in these “little things” prepares students for greater opportunities in the future. We are responsible for ourselves, others, and our community at Sequoia!
