Fabulous resource sites

Digibooks by ABC Splash

These digibook collections are just one of the many fabulous resources on the ABC Splash website. The digibooks include multimedia snippets on topics including Antarctica, Feathers, Fur and Scales, Colonial Life and the Solar System.

Thanks to Vivien Harris for this find.

Matific is a new little resource site with videos and interactives related to maths concepts. Aligned with Australian curriculum you can search by grade or content matter.

Lessons From Africa

Lessons from Africa is a growing collection of free teaching resources designed to help bring Africa into your classroom.

Web Tools

Narrable is a fabulous web tool with many possibilities. Set up your free teacher account to manage your student accounts. Students can create their own narrables from scratch or the teacher can import a selection of images and then select children on their roster to edit the narrable and add their own audio.

Crossword Maker

Crossword Maker There are a stack of crossword makers available on the net, however this one is quick, simple and free to use and allows you to add images to brighten your pages. There are also ready made word sets and a stack of other options. Be sure to check out the other creators available on the site listed on the right hand side.

Thanks to Cassie Menne for highlighting this site.

Gapminder World

App of the Week

The Alan Peat Pocket Punctuation App

'The Alan Peat Pocket Punctuation App' goes hand in hand with 'The Alan Peat Pocket App of Exciting Sentences'. It features precise definitions of each punctuation mark as well as a teaching activities section with ideas on how to engage students in learning each of the punctuation marks.

Alan Peat has generously given me five codes to give away to you for FREE. All you have to do for a free copy of this app is email me with the name of one of your favourite teaching/resource websites which will then feature in the next technology flyer. The first five to respond get a code! Good luck!

Also be on the look out for the release of the student edition of the Exciting Sentences app this weekend! A review will follow next flyer.

Music & Relaxation

This website by the San Francisco Symphony is amazing! Learn about instruments, listen to music, play games and respond to music, learn how to conduct and then compose your own pieces. So much to try here.

New York Philharmonic Kidzone

Another amazing music site for kids. Learn about each of the instruments, hear them play, compose your own music, create your own instrument and learn about famous composers. Another must visit site.

DSO Kids

DSO Kids is another great little music site powered by Texas Instruments Foundation. Listen to music organised by composer or instrument or check out some of the music games.

The Calmsound website allows you to access some lovely audio and video featuring the relaxing sounds of nature for free. Great to play in the background in your classroom or as a creative writing prompt.
