The Island and it's culture
There are many different sites in Martinique. One of the most fascinating are the painted racing boats of yoles rondes. These boats are only in Martinique and they are just painted fishing boats. French and Creole are the main languages of Martinique, creole is a mix of French and African languages. In Martinique they celebrate Carnival which is celebrated in many french speaking countries. Carnival has parades, dances and special foods. It happens just before Lent. There is lots of dancing in Martinique and most of it comes from the old times when there were slaves who made up the dances.
