Heritage Monthly News
October 2021
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear Heritage Families,
September flew right by and we have welcomed October with excitement! During September we made so many great memories. From our All-Star kickball game, to the Homecoming parade and events, Pride Day, many Eagle Buck winners and picture day; we packed a lot into a short amount of time. To keep up-to-date with our weekly fun, please follow us on Twitter, @HeritageElemen2. We post regularly to help you stay connected to our students, staff and school.
Along with all the fun we had, we also made strides in our academics. By now you should have received your child's MAP report from the benchmark tests we administered in September. These scores help us plan our instruction and watch how your child grows throughout the year. In addition to our September MAP administration, we will also give MAP two more times, in the winter and spring to monitor progress. Please contact your child's teacher if you have any questions about the MAP results you received. Also, continue to monitor your child's Power School grades for real-time information. We believe in a strong home-school connection to ensure continued success.
Thank you in advance for reading through all the information proved in our newsletters. We appreciate the time you take to familiarize yourself with our information, activities and events. Wishing you a wonderful start to fall, with all the apple picking, hay rides, pumpkin patch visits and fun you can fit in!
Halloween at Heritage
Halloween is fast approaching and we are preparing at Heritage Elementary School for a safe and healthy day with our children on Friday, October 29, 2021. As you are well aware, SAFETY is a priority at school. We aim to ensure that ALL students and staff members feel comfortable throughout the day. To accomplish this objective, we request your assistance and cooperation on some important details. While students are not required to wear costumes on Oct. 29th, those students who do wish to participate are reminded of the following guidelines:
Please choose a costume that does not reflect violence. Inappropriate “props” such as blood, plastic swords, guns, knives, and weapons of any kind are not allowed – even if they are a part of your child’s costume.
Students should wear their costume to school.
No Face painting.
Only our normal “face coverings” (cloth masks, shields, gaiters) are permitted/required, no other “costume masks”.
Finally, all costumes should maintain the integrity of our school dress code.
Please understand that these guidelines are put in place to ensure the safety of all our students. Students are allowed to wear their costumes during the course of the day, but the costume must not interfere with the student’s duties and responsibilities, both in and out of class. Plan to wear costumes that are comfortable as they will be worn all day.
Each year, our students display some of the most well designed costumes that require a lot of thought and planning. This year should be no different. We Look forward to seeing the creativity of our students when they arrive at school on October 29th. Let’s all have an enjoyable Fall/Costume Day.
Student Early Dismissal
To ensure the safety and security of our students at Heritage Elementary we ask that if you are picking your child up early from school, you bring your identification card to the office when signing your child out. Our office staff will ask you to identify yourself and hold your ID card up to the window for verification. This will help us ensure you are a safe adult for one of our children. While we understand this procedure can be frustrating, especially if you have to go back to your car for your identification, we are doing this to keep everyone safe and secure.
