St Cecilia's News

St Cecilia's Catholic Primary School - April 2018

Welcome back!

We hope that you had a good Easter break and lots of lovely family time. It's typical that the weather has picked up a little now that we are back at school. School is quietly industrious at the moment as we make our way towards our main assessment period in May.

Whilst we usually wait until the end of the month for a newsletter we wanted to get started with our detailed Sports Day organisation so you will see an item below asking for information on packed lunch / transport and attendees for the day. Please return this digital form to us within the next week, it will help with our planning for the day.

Our PTA have a few events coming up, a FIlm Morning this Saturday for EYFS and Years 1&2 - see the uploaded document below - letters have already been sent home in children's bags - and a parent "meet and mingle" this Thursday evening - we don't have any age limitation on that!

We have now sent Class Dojo invites to every family with your parent access code. We also sent a further email reminder this week to all those parents who had not signed up. It's now over to you to join via the App so that you can bring the learning process home and celebrate the learning journey with your child.

More news at the end of the month, with best wishes,

Sports Day Arrangements

Sports Day 2018, on Friday 15th June, for years 1 - 6 will take place at the

David Weir Sports Centre,
Middleton Road,

How marvellous to see David Weir, our Sutton Paralympian coming first in the London Marathon Mens Wheelchair race yesterday.

Sports Day will run from 9am to around 2.40pm. Many parents will want to attend on the day - we will send you guidance and details of the range of events and timings closer to the event.

For now, we need to work out how the children will travel to the event so that we can book transport.

If you are attending we would prefer it if you could take your child in your own car straight to David Weir and we will see you there. We have arranged for additional parking on the field at the sports centre so there is lots of space.

For children without a parent at the event, buses will leave school earlier than our usual start time with departures at 0830, we want to have a full day at the Sports Centre to make the most of the opportunity that being off-site brings.

To let us know about your arrangements on the day please use our Google Form below. It will send a copy of your replies to you. We just need this form once per family - please make sure to let your spouse/partner know that you have submitted it to us.

PTA Meet and Mingle Evening

Thursday, April 26th, 7-9pm

St Cecilia's Catholic Primary School, Worcester Park, Sutton SM3 9DL, UK

Worcester Park, England

The PTA are organising a “Meet and mingle” evening with beer, wine and nibbles on Thursday 26th April 2018 in the hall – parking will be available in playground.

There will be opportunities for you to meet other parents, find out more about what the PTA does and submit ideas for the school fairs and other events. It is not a formal ‘sit down’ meeting and you will be welcome to pop in anytime between 7pm and 9pm - even if just for 10 minutes! We would particularly like to encourage parents with children in Nursery and Reception to attend.

As we reach the final term of 2018 and lose some of our Year 6 parent volunteers we appeal to all of you to get involved. Ensuring that the PTA is retained is crucial to enable funds to be raised for projects such as playground marking, play equipment, refreshments provided at the yearly Welcome Mass and First Holy Communion celebrations among many others. We all know how much the children look forward to the school fairs, discos and film mornings.

Children with Cancer Charity Football Match and Family Fun Day

Some of the St Cecilia Dads have put a football team together and are playing a team of Dads from Cheam Park Farm. This is the 2nd year we have organised this event, it was a huge success last year raising just under £4000 for the Children with Cancer Charity.

The match is on:

SUNDAY 1ST JULY, 1PM – 4PM at the SUTTON UNITED Football Ground.

Events like this can only work with the help of volunteers, if anyone is free for an hour or two to help on the day, either by manning the bouncy castle, selling raffle tickets, face painting, on the tombola please do contact me. If anyone has any items that could be put on the tombola stool please bring them to school and give them to the office for my collection.

Thank you for your help and support.
