From the Principal's Desk…

Dear Parents and Carers,

I would like to thank all of our school community that supported the Trivia Night on Friday. It was a great night with lots of good fun had by all. A special thank you to Susan Smith and her band of helpers. Thank you also to the sponsors who contributed.

This week we have added to our student leadership team for 2023. Congratulations to the following students:

· Myer House Captain: Ava K

· Watts House Captain: Alyssa M

· Chum House Captain: Isla C

· Yarra House Captain: Nate D

When our grade five and sixes return from camp, we will decide upon the Curriculum Captains. Staff have decided to add a Sports Captain in 2023, each of our specialist areas will now have a student leader who assist the Specialist teacher and help with our lunchtime club program.

Meagan Bult will be taking leave next year to teach at Cire. She will be greatly missed by all. Meagan has been part of the Healesville Primary community for a long time. She is an incredibly dedicated teacher who works hard with all students to encourage them to achieve their best. On behalf of everyone I wish her all the best with this new adventure.

Christina Stewart has decided to retire. Tina has been an integral part of Healesville Primary School for a very long time. She has worked with many of our students and teachers and has made a real difference in their lives. Tina will be greatly missed by all. Again, on behalf of everyone I wish her well for this next stage of her life – so much more time to spend with treasured grandchildren.

At the end of this year, we will be farewelling other staff members as they have been successful in obtaining teaching positions closer to home. The following teachers have only been with us for twelve months, but we have valued their input into our school. Samantha Holman will be returning to Chum Creek Primary. Marguerite Fredericks will be joining the teaching team at St Frances in Eltham and Blair Price is moving to a primary school closer to home. On behalf of everyone at HPS I would like to thank these teachers and wish them the best for future years.

We are currently interviewing and appointing new staff to join us for 2023. I will introduce these staff members in our next newsletter when the process has been completed.

As I mentioned in our last newsletter, School Council are investigating the feasibility of running the school canteen in 2023. We are looking for volunteers to assist us. The plan is to develop our vegetable gardens and use the produce from these in some of our canteen food. If you would like to assist in any way in 2023, please contact the office.

A reminder that next Monday 21st November is a curriculum day. This is a student free day as staff will be working with our DSSI team to plan units of work.

The students wanted it and we got it!

After so many student book suggestions we were able to achieve this thanks to everyone that came and supported the book fair. This is almost all the books we got from the money raised. What a fantastic school community and the kids are going to love them. Thank you.

You are never alone when you have books!
