DINOSAUR UNIT EXTINCTION
This week we have continued talking about and exploring Dinosaurs. We have been singing, reading books, listening to Dinosaur stories and making some prehistoric art pieces. We have also gone outside the playground to search for hidden fossils, which gave us a chance to practice counting as well as gross motor skills.
We truly LOVE Dinosaurs but guess what...we are officially done with this unit!
We would like to give a BIG thank you to all for the support with this amazing unit.

Dinosaurs and Geoboards
Geoboards are often found in elementary classrooms for practice forming polygons and introducing the concepts of perimeter and area.
This week we had great fun stretching the rubber bands around the pegs. I heard spontaneous comments, such as, “I made a shape!” and “Look! here is a triangle!” With suggestions for squares and rectangles, they were able to make a variety of shapes to fill the boards. Geoboards are good to build up strength and flexibility in their hands.
We added some dinosaurs to this activity and the boys started creating cages for the dinosaurs with the rubber bands.

Grandma and Grandpa Visit from Canada
This week we enjoyed the visit of Leo's Grandparents. They came from Toronto, Canada to the hot and humid Panamanian weather to spend time with Leo and his family.
Grandma Linda used to be a school teacher and she brought a lovely book to read to the class.
Thank you for sharing with us!

Sorting and Classifying Triceratops
How big were the Dinosaurs?
We checked the sizes of various dinosaurs in the dinosaur book, then used paper to measure out the distance across the playground.
The children saw how long was the T-rex and they noticed that we needed more students to complete the dinosaur's measure.

Dinosaur Movie!
Unfortunately in Panama we do not have a museum with a Dinosaur exhibition, so to celebrate the end of our Dino Unit we went to the ISP conference room to enjoy the movie "Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs" with the other PK 3 classes. Our teachers prepared bags with a cookie, a juice and of course some popcorn.
