BMS Families,

We are all counting down the days until our learners are walking through the hallways again! We are beyond excited to start the 2022-2023 school year! We kept many of the important items in this newsletter as a reminder, but also have some general updates below. As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to our main office at 651-460-1400.

Class Schedules - will be visible in Parent Portal on Friday, August 26. Your schedule will include the schedule of classes for the year, the school counselor and the locker assignment for the 22-23 school year. (In order to see schedules, you must have Campus Portal. If you need your Campus Portal setup, please call the BMS main office as soon as possible at 651-460-1400. In addition to giving you access to your student’s schedule, Campus Portal will give you access to your student’s records that include, bus route numbers (available August 29th), attendance, and their academic progress throughout the school year. After being requested, an invitation will arrive from Campus Portal within 48 hours of your call. Please call as soon as possible so you are able to access your electronic schedule when they go live.)

Bus information - for the school year will be available on Parent Portal on Monday, August 29.

6th Grade Families – remember that WEB Orientation is next Thursday, August 25 from 8:00am to 12:30pm. Bussing information is available for WEB day on August 19 to all 6th grade families. Please remember this is a ONE DAY transportation schedule and DOES NOT apply to the school year transportation.

Open House - is on August 30th from 2:00 - 7:00 pm. This will be a great time to bring our Boeckman Middle School community together, meet teachers and other families, and learn about the upcoming school year. Students will have the opportunity to pick up their official schedules, tour the building, find their lockers, and have their school pictures taken. If you have medications that you would like available during the day, we will have a spot for you to connect with our school nurse. Kona Ice will also be on site for a fun summer treat!

They should always have athletic shoes for PE class.

All students participating in school sports will need a sports physical on file with the school. Registration is online. Please click here for more information.

Educational Benefits

The U.S. Department of Agriculture did NOT extend the free meal program for the 2022-23 school year so meals will no longer be provided free to all students, and the free meal program does not carry-over for the first thirty days of the school year.

**If you did not submit and Educational Benefits application during the 2021-22 school year, your student(s) will begin accruing meal charges on the first day which they eat at school.

iPad Loan Agreement

Returning students to Boeckman Middle School and/or families new to ISD 192 (including those incoming 6th-grade students) who elected NOT to sign out their iPads for the summer, will receive their iPads during the school day this year within the first couple weeks back to school. Families must complete the online user agreement and protection plan option for the 2022-23 school year before students receive their iPads. Any student that does not have a current user agreement and protection plan selection will not receive his/her iPad until the required documentation is received. You can access the iPad Loan Agreement and indicate your iPad protection plan preference by going to the main district iPad Loan Agreement page.

***Families/Students that elected to sign out their iPads for the summer DO NOT need to complete any of the above steps as you completed everything in the spring. You are set to go for the school year!

+++If you receive free or reduced lunch, have applied for, and have been approved for Educational Benefits for 2022-23, the fee to enroll in the iPad Protection Plan should show as zero. The application for Educational Benefits must be filled out every year.
