Literacy Adoption

As you know, CCSD will be adopting a new reading program. Each school will have the option to choose between American Reading Company and Lucy Calkins Units of Study. I would like to have a team to collaborate with around this decision.

This team will....

  • Join me at 3:00 on February 4th to browse the two options (SARC)
  • Participate in site visit(s) to schools using the programs. (Will involve a sub day/half day)
  • Share information with staff.

If you would like to be a part of this team, please email me before the end of the day Wednesday. Once I have a list of all who are interested, I will send an email to confirm our literacy adoption team.

Thank you,

Katie

Supply List Reminder

It’s hard to believe we are already making plans for the 2019-2020 school year, but it’s time to work on supply lists.

Kindergarten lists need to be turned into me NO LATER THAN Wednesday, January 23th.

1st through 5th need to be turned into me NO LATER THAN Wednesday, March 27th.

Please keep the following in mind when created the lists.

  • No more than 48 pencils
  • No more than 9 glue sticks
  • Never ask for money on the list
  • Do not list name brands as a requirement (keep it general i.e. washable markers, sandwich bags etc.)
  • Keep the entire list by grade level under $50 (including kits from an outsourced company).

Why Stories - Remember to write your story before our staff meeting on Wednesday, January 30th.

As you all reflect on the stories shared, what themes/topics did you hear? Using the link below, please submit your responses. You may submit up to 6 entries per why story (doing a separate submission for each story shared).

Why Question

When thinking about the work you do everyday, who has impacted the person you are today? What did this person do that changed you? What drives you? What keeps you coming back everyday? What gives you purpose? All these questions will help guide you in writing your story. Don't forget to write your WHY story by Wednesday, January 30th.

Cottonwood Creek Behavioral Referral Form

Below is the Google Form for behavior referrals. The purpose of this form is to provide a quick and easy way to document "major" behaviors. When a teacher completes this form, Ashley and I automatically recieve an email notification. From there, we are able to document the administration response and give it to Angel, who can then record all of the information in PowerSchool. Once we've completed our end of the process, you will have access to the file for your documentation. For clarification, when you have referred a student to the front office, you must complete this form as soon as possible. However, you do not have to do it immediately. All I ask is that you complete it prior to the end of the day. Through our PBIS/Safety committee, I hope we are able to work through more specific scenerios to help RAMS define "major"/"minor" behaviors. As always, if you have questions/concerns please come talk to me. It's a work in progress. Thank you.

If you are interested in being a cooperative teacher for the 2019-20 school year, please let me know ASAP!
