Note from the Principal
Hello NES Families,
Happy Monday! This week brings our last Early Release day of the year on Wednesday. Student dismissal will be at 12:50pm.
Also, I'd like to invite all families to join me and Superintendent, Matt Galley, for a spring NES Family Meeting. It's been a long time since we've been able to gather together and talk about our school and district mission, our goals, and family involvement.
We are providing an in-person and Zoom option to make sure everyone has an opportunity to participate:
- In-person on Wednesday, May 25th at 6:30pm: NES Family Meeting/ "Coffee with the Principal and Superintendent" here at school. Childcare will be provided.
- Zoom meeting on Thursday, June 9th at 6:30pm: This is fo all elementary school families who are unable to attend the in-person meeting or who prefer zoom.
We look forward to seeing you! And remember, families are welcome to volunteer in our school at this time. Please see below for the volunteer paperwork, or contact our front office.
Sincerely,
Katie Brown

Health Update
There has been an uptick of positive COVID cases in Whatcom County in general and we are seeing more positive cases in our schools since returning from Spring Break.
Please help keep our community healthy and classrooms open by keeping students home who are symptomatic or ill. Call the school and speak to one of our health staff to review symptoms or to report an exposure to COVID and to schedule testing if needed. Rapid COVID testing at every school site is readily available.
Should an outbreak occur in a classroom or within a specific group ( sports or clubs), the health department may require short term use of masks, testing and/or moving to remote learning.
For those who are eligible for COVID vaccine, you can find Whatcom County pop up clinic information at https://www.whatcomcounty.us/3530/COVID-19-Vaccine-Information#popup
The health department will host a free vaccine clinic at Nooksack Valley Middle School on April 30th and May 14th from 10:00-1:00. Walk-ins welcome!
