Video Book Review Project
Using WeVideo
Step 1 - Plan your video.
Plan out your video by writing a script, so you will know exactly what you want to say. Practice reading your script aloud before recording. Think about the types of visuals you want to include. Visuals might include a graphic of the book cover or some other images that relate to the book. WeVideo provides thousands of video clips, images and audio files that you can use in your project.
Step 2 - Access your Smithtown School District WeVideo account.
- If you do not have an account - click JOIN WITH A NEW ACCOUNT
- If you already have an account - click JOIN WITH AN EXISTING ACCOUNT
- Log in with Google using your school Google email.
Step 3 - Join your class/group
- Sign into WeVideo
- Copy the following code: 3pjo9d
- Click Join Group/Class
- Paste the Group/Class code
- Click Join
- You will see a message that says Success!
- Click CLOSE
Step 4 - Join the class project

Once you are in the project, you may create or edit your video.
The next time you open WeVideo, you will find this project by clicking Projects and then Shared With Me. The name of the project is Kozlowski/Bambino Book Review Project
Step 5 - Start a New Video Edit
Step 6 - Record Yourself
You can record yourself using your Chromebook. If you want to record yourself, by doing the following:
- Find a quiet place to record and check your background. Make sure that you are happy with what your audience will see behind you. You may want to record in front of a green screen if you want to add your own backgrounds.
- Make sure that you have your script open in a tab on your Chromebook.
- Set up your Chromebook so that you camera is eye level. You may have to prop it up on a couple of books.
- Select the My Media tab.
- Click Record
- Click Webcam and then Next (you may be asked to allow WeVideo to use your camera and microphone - agree to that)
- Click Start Recording.
- You will see a 3-2-1 countdown. Wait until GO disappears and then click on the tab for your script.
- Begin recording.
- Once done, return to the WeVideo tab and click STOP.
- You can preview your video to see if you are happy with it. If you are, then click SAVE, if not then click RECORD AGAIN.
- Once you click SAVE, the video should be added to your timeline.
TIP: If you are recording with a green screen background, move your video to the Video 2 line. Your background will be going on Video 1.
Step 6 - Adding your own media to WeVideo
- If you are not already in the project, click here.
- Click START to create a new video edit
- Click on the My Media tab, which has a folder with a star on it.
- Click Import
- Select Google Drive and locate your media
- Your media will load into WeVideo.
- Once the media is loaded, you can drag it into your timeline.
7 - Adding Stock Media to Your Project
Step 8 - Finishing your video.
Before you finalize your video, make sure that you are completely satisfied with it. Below this section, you will see some tutorials that will show you some other things you can add to your video to make it more interesting. Some of these include titles, music, transitions, voice overs, and more. Be sure to explore some of these before finishing your video.
