Classroom Management
Building a Community of Learners
Classroom management refers to all of the things a teacher does to organize students, space, time, and materials so all students have access to meaningful learning. All of the major facets of teaching, which include the construction and delivery of meaningful and engaging curriculum, the creation of an inviting room environment, maintaining open and warm communication with students and parents play important roles in classroom management. At the same time, teachers should be equipped with some specific tools and strategies for solving everyday classroom problems. Therefore, this workshop will specifically consider current classroom management theories and practices and situate them in the idea of a vibrant learning community.
This course is designed for all classroom teachers looking to add to their management toolbox.
Participants will:
- learn overarching theories related to classroom management
- develop routines and procedures to support learning
- learn strategies for dealing with everyday classroom issues
- create a philosophy of classroom management and a classroom management plan
