NatureYear Info Session
Parent Information Sessions are for parents/caregivers(children welcome, however the information and conversation is adult-centered!). Meet program teachers and the program director, tour our campus, hear about program plans, and have an opportunity to ask questions.
About NatureYear: Children ages 3 – 5 and 5 – 12 are invited to come together in a small community of 12 children and two or three Teacher Naturalists to explore, imagine, and learn on the farm and in the forest! Visit the NatureYear pages to learn more!

Spring Open Farm Days
Enjoy Open Farm Day at Common Ground every Saturday from April through the end of November. Explore our beautiful urban farm, help dig and plant in the children’s garden, and ask farm staff your backyard gardening and composting questions. The animal yards are open for visitors to meet our chickens, ducks, turkeys, goats, sheep, and pigs. Trail maps are available for self-guided hikes in West Rock Park, including the family-friendly Old Oak Nature Trail.

Farm Volunteer Hours
You make our garden flourish! Meet awesome people and green up your thumb by volunteering on our sustainably managed market garden!
Spring farm work can include: preparing beds, transplanting, and working in the greenhouses. Get your wheelbarrowing on and join the fun...
Meet at the Harvest Pavilion at the lower garden. Drop in anytime Saturdays between 10am-1pm and stay for as little or as much as you would like. NatureYear Open House
Family Open House Days are for children and parents/caregivers together. Several activity stations will be open and staffed by our program teachers. These days are a great opportunity for your child to explore our campus and meet some teachers. Our Program Director will be available to answer your questions!

Nature Macro Photography
Mr. Morales, who likes to be called Mr. Mo by our Common Ground students, is a well-known Professional Nature & Sports photographer, and contributor to many different magazines in New England and CT Wildlife Magazine. Mr. Mo’s specialty in photography is one of the most challenging & rewarding types of photography in the field: macro-photography. Come and join us to discover this amazing world through photography one picture at a time, and be able to learn the basics of photo editing in Photoshop 5SC or more.
This workshop is for adults and young adults. RSVP required- will be canceled if registration is low. Sliding scale, $15 – $35.

Farm Festival & Seedling Sale
Purchase locally grown and ecologically raised seedlings for your community, school, or backyard garden! All seedlings are sustainably grown, started here on Common Ground’s farm, with CG compost, organic certified amendments and in accordance with CT NOFA Farmers Pledge.
Family-friendly activities will be happening throughout the day. The Parent Leadership Team will be hosting its annual BBQ to benefit Common Ground High School with lunch for purchase. Watch the sheep get shorn, taste spring veggies in the learning garden, get your face painted, and play with new friends!
