Parent/Guardian volunteers requested for King Philip’s Safe School Climate Committee (SSCC)

The SSCC meets after school, once each month (12/20/16, 1/24/17, 2/16/17, 3/23/17, 4/20/17, 5/18/17, & 6/15/17) from 3:00 - 4:00PM. During these meetings, the SSCC discusses school-wide efforts to minimize mean behaviors and also basic safety drills and procedures. Parent/caregiver perspective is needed on this year’s committee. Please respond to justin_gusy@whps.org if you are interested in hearing more and/or participating.

VEX Robotics Team

On Saturday, the KP VEX robotics team competed at Manchester High School. Our students did great and held first place for the qualifying rounds for most of the day. The KP VEX team was even able to participate in the final matches due to their success in the qualifying rounds. Though we did not bring home any trophies this time, the students competed well and were constantly strategizing, working with other teams, improving their robot, and practicing good sportsmanship.

A big thank you to our KP VEX robotics team parents who helped get our team to the competition, brought donuts, and supported the team all day long!

"OT & PT: Differences and Similarities with Amy Alexander and Tess Dagenais

There is often confusion about these two and some even think that they are synonymous. There are significant differences between PT and OT and there are also many grey areas where the two overlap. Occupational Therapist, Amy Alexander and Physical Therapist, Tess Dagenais will be discussing the similarities and differences between Occupational Therapy (OT) and Physical Therapy (PT) and hope to help parents better understand how they work to help children. This is Amy’s 7th year working in the West Hartford School system. Tess graduated from Boston University in 1985 with a Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy and a concentration in pediatrics and has worked in the West Hartford public school system for the last 22 years.
