A Note from Mr. Hershey
Dear Parent or Guardian,
Welcome back from fall break! I hope that all of you got to spend some quality family time and were able to get some R & R.
I want to say thank you for the amazing contributions that you have made through our Chief Challenge fundraiser. We can't say thank you enough to all of our parent volunteers, staff, and students for making it a huge success.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to me should you need anything. We are happy to serve you in any way to make a better experience for your child and your family.
Thank you again for partnering with us.
Sincerely,
Derrick Hershey
Principal

Habit 2 - Begin with the End in Mind
Begin With the End in Mind means to think about how you would like something to turn out before you get started. Reading a recipe before cooking or looking at a map before leaving on a trip is beginning with the end in mind. For young children, a good example is that of a jigsaw puzzle. Before doing a puzzle, they look at the cover of the box. They start with the end in mind.

What's Happening at Sawnee?
PTO Chief Challenge
Chief Challenge fundraiser Updates!
We raised over $49,000 this year for our fundraiser...we had such a great time and are so thankful for your support. We are already beginning our process of building our new track areas referred to as "Sawnee Valley" and will continue to work on making it a great area for our students to play, learn, and enjoy each other.

Calling ALL readers! Please consider volunteering to read to Sawnee's kindergarten students in our K-2 Building. We are looking for volunteers to sign up for a 30 minute time slot to read to an individual or small group of students. We will have books available for you to read! (Please note that you will not necessarily be reading with your own child's class. To volunteer directly in your own child's class, please reach out directly to your child's teacher.)

GA Parent Survey
We need your help to fill out a survey for Sawnee. The Georgia Parent Survey was developed to measure parent perceptions of school climate at your child’s school. Your opinion is very important to us. Your survey responses are confidential and will be combined with the survey responses of other parents at your child’s school to identify areas in need of improvement. It should only take ten or fifteen minutes to complete the survey. Thank you for your time and participation.
Please click here to access the survey.
After School Clubs
Session 2 Clubs will begin on Tuesday, November 12th! More information will be coming out soon with club offerings. Sign up will be on My Payments Plus again, so if you haven't created an account please do so soon. The club participants have had so much fun in Session 1 you won't want to miss signing up for Session 2!
Text and Treat
Candy Wars have begun! Please send in bags of individually wrapped candy to your child's homeroom teacher. The classes that bring in the most candy in each grade level will win ice cream sundae parties. New this year, we are celebrating the weekly class winners too! So bring that candy in early to help your class win!
Sawnee is a top supporter, year after year, of Relay for Life county-wide because of the support of our fabulous families. We hope to set a new record this year with your help!

BYOT Fun Run
Over 2000 families in Forsyth County do not have Internet in their homes. With so much of the schoolwork requiring online access, we want to make a difference in the lives of those who do not have the same privileges as others.
In 2019, students are expected to study and complete assignments online whenever there is an inclement weather day. Can you imagine what it would be like to have no Internet access - even for one day?
In five years, the Forsyth BYOT Benefit has raised over $300,000 to put Internet in the homes and devices in the hands of students without them. This has been accomplished through the efforts of our sponsors, golfers, runners and volunteers.
Please help us do more for those who need us!
Join us for the iRun BYOT 5K on October 13th! Sign Up here.
