Principal's message - week 42
Greetings North Plains Families!
Today I had the privilege of teaching Ms. Underhill's third grade class, and it was so much fun! That said, I didn't have much time to do my other responsibilities, so this will be a quick letter today:)
It is the time of year that we start thinking about assigning students to classrooms for the upcoming school year. If you would like input on the teacher for your child, please fill out the form in the following link and turn it into the office by June 1. http://tinyurl.com/ParentInputClassPlacement1819 We do not allow parents to choose teachers, but we do want your input as to what your child's needs are, and we will do our best to accommodate.
This morning we had the owner and manager of McDonald's come and give us money for our McTeacher Night. We made over 800.00 that evening, and they kicked in even more to bring out total to $1000.00! Thank you again for coming that evening and helping us earn money! In addition, we were awarded another $1000.00 in the form of a grant that will help pay for our Scholastic News subscription next year. Thank you to Jamie and Jimmy Monroe, owners of our local McDonald's, for supporting our school!
This Thursday is our Spring Showcase and we start at 5:30PM. Science fair projects will be on display in the library, teachers will have student work on display in the hallways, and of course there will be a musical performance in the gym. Please note the time(s) when your student(s) is performing and plan to drop in during that time. Parking will be a nightmare, so if you can walk or carpool, please do! If we are all here at the same time for the entire time, it's just not going to work, so please see below regarding when your child(ren) perform!

The last day of school is our talent show and there will be auditions on May 31 after school. There is NOT an activity bus that day, so I will need to know how your child is getting home. If your child plans on auditioning, they will need to fill out a form and give it to the office by Friday, May 25. You can also send me an email and let me know how your child will be getting home. Auditions will be from 2:15 - 3:30 in the music room.
The carnival is approaching quickly and we need your help! June 2 from 1-4, come out and enjoy all kinds of activities, including a dunk tank to dunk the teachers! Please use the following link to sign up to volunteer. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/9040b4caca92aa64-north16
