Senior Awards Night and Graduation Honors
Senior Awards Night will be done virtually this year and the ceremony will be shown on June 4th. Normally this is when students would receive their honor cords or medals of distinction. However, we know that some of you want your cords and medals for your graduation picture that is due next week; so we are planning to deliver cords and medals to the homes of seniors later this week.

Learning for the week of May 26-29
Friday, May 22nd- Non School Day
Monday, May 25th-Memorial Day-NO CLASSES
Tuesday, May 26th-regular schedule of class periods 5-8
Wednesday, May 27th-reschedule of Monday's class periods 1-4
Thursday, May 28th-normal office hours schedule
Friday, May May 29th-normal Friday schedule
Attendance
We will be monitoring student engagement in Skyward Attendance. Engagement will be determined based on whether a student has engaged with that class during the previous week. If a student attends a zoom, communicates with the teacher, or does the work given in the unit plan, that student will be marked as present for that period's class. Attendance will be taken every Monday for the previous week. So on May 11, the attendance/engagement marking will be based on whether the student engaged at least once with the work from the previous Monday through Sunday (5/4-5/10). Students that aren't engaging will get additional phone calls to see how we can support them to help them engage.

Weekly Social Emotional Health Connection
I’m sure many of us have heard the expression “I’m so angry I’m just going to explode!” Well, 40 years ago today Mt. St. Helens in Washington State did explode. And in its wake it left a path of destruction that can still be seen today. Although our feelings will not cause us to explode, we certainly feel our feelings in our bodies. Love can show up with a sense of warmth in our heart, anxiety might be sweaty palms and overwhelm a sense of exhaustion where all we want to do is sleep. And feelings can come out in unexpected ways, sometimes exploding out of us. Whatever you are feeling right now is ok, feelings remind us that we are human. The important thing with feelings is that we know what we are feeling and know how to deal with our feelings in helpful ways so we don’t end up exploding. This week find time to talk with a family member, friend, or teacher/coworker about how you are feeling. I’ve attached a feelings chart that lists common emotions along with a feelings worksheet to help with that conversation. And remember that together, we are a strong Bearcat community and we will get through this. Moving forward, one day at a time, together.
*If you or someone you know is having trouble with obtaining enough food, or other necessities, please call (360) 804-2528 to be connected with a member of the Monroe School District Behavioral Health Team.
