News From the Lower School Library
September 2023
Hello from the Library!
We are off to a great start in the Library this school year! All students visit the Library once a week as a class. During this time they have the opportunity to checkout books and enjoy our library space. Our time together is focused on building a deep appreciation of literature and a lifelong love of reading. Students also work on building information and digital literacy skills to become informed and skilled consumers of information.
Students have the opportunity to borrow books from our Library throughout the week. The Library is open from 7:45-8:30 each morning to allow students to visit the Library as they start their day. Students in PK-1 can have up to five books out at once on their library account. Grade 2-5 students can borrow unlimited books as long as they are regularly returning the books they borrow.
Please help your student return their library books each week! Students may return books to the Library any day of the week, or on their library day. I will periodically send home overdue notices when students have multiple overdue books on their accounts.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to me at anytime by email, or stop by the Library if you have questions or need book suggestions for your family. I am always happy to chat about books!
Boston Book Festival
The Boston Book Festival is a wonderful annual celebration of books and literature for all ages. This year's festival takes place in Copley Square on October 14th. All events, author talks, and signings are free and open to the public. There are special events just for kids and even a kids festival keynote given this year by the wildly popular author, Rick Riordan! More information is linked below, as well as information about the special Kids Only celebration happening the following weekend on October 21st.
