Mrs. Harris' Class News
September 15, 2014
Hey There!
What We've Been Up To
Math - students have been working in Mrs. Trayer's class on fact families and inverse relationships. They are beginning their unit on rounding and place value.
Reading - we will continue to focus on reading SOL 3.5, which includes identifying story elements in fictional texts. Currently, our specific area of learning is identifying problem/solutions and cause/effect.
Writing - We have just wrapped up our parts of speech mini-unit, and will move into identifying and correctly using past and present tense verbs, both regular and irregular.
History - We are smack in the middle of our 3.5 Maps unit. This includes labeling and identifying the seven continents and five (yes, FIVE!) oceans, as well as identifying coordinates using a grid map system.
I am absolutely in love with this class of third graders. I am building relationships with each one of them and am constantly amazed at their hard work, their kindness, and their desire to do well. I know I'm the luckiest 3rd grade teacher at Moss-Nuckols!
