Counseling Department to Offer Free Parent Workshops
TRMS will be offering a series of free parent workshops in the coming months. Your parent input is important. Please complete this survey to help us make informed decisions about workshop scheduling and content.
Your responses will remain private and combined with others when they are analyzed.
Using the Teacher NOTEBOOK Links from the TRMS Website Directory
We have been receiving several emails from students with the subject line: I’d like access, please.” We are so glad that the students and parents are using the teachers’ notebooks and find the communication here valuable. The issues you may experience are because the teachers’ notebook links on the website are for a READ ONLY digital resource.
While the OneNote platform is designed to allow students EDIT and SHARE content, we have switched off these features for anyone accessing teachers’ digital notebooks. This means that students may ONLY VIEW CONTENT with limited features when visiting their teacher’ digital notebooks. Any attempt by a student to directly EDIT, SHARE or DISTRIBUTE content from any of our teacher’s digital notebook will require access, and it will NOT be granted. The purpose of the digital notebook is to provide a platform for the teachers to publicly share what is happening in their classrooms. Keeping the digital notebook current is an expectation for all TRMS teachers.
Some teachers are creating online classroom environments with the same OneNote platform. When teachers create a classroom notebook, student will receive an email invitation directly from the teacher. These notebooks are managed differently, and the teachers can set up permissions for these to become more interactive.
If your student would like to check for specific invitations from any teacher who has given him or her access to an interactive online classroom, he or she may visit www.portal.office.com and log in using their Lunchfirstname.lastname@example.org. Passwords are usually their birthday (mmddyyyy) unless your student has changed it.
When logged in, students may click on the OneNote app. A list of their available online classes will appear, and they may click on any class. Please understand that your student may or may NOT have classes listed on OneNote. Don’t be concerned if you don’t see any list. It simply means they do not have teachers using OneNote as this is NOT a school requirement.
To summarize what are allowable actions in using the NOTEBOOK links from the school website:
Access will NOT be Granted:
Right clip to COPY content
PASTE content on a page
EDIT content on a page (Type, delete, etc.)
Access already granted:
Double click on document to download
Click on links to other websites
View content or Read Only
We hope this helps clear up any confusion you may have with our digital notebooks. Thank you for supporting TRMS.
Box Tops For Education
This year, our school will be participating in the Box Tops for Education™ program. My name is Delaree Slater and I’m thrilled to be the Box Tops Coordinator for Taylor Road Middle School. Clipping Box Tops is an easy way for you to help our school buy what it needs. Box Tops are each worth 10¢ and they quickly add up to real cash for our school. This school year, our school’s earnings goal is to raise $1000.00.
To help our school, just look for pink Box Tops on products, clip them, and send them to school. For more information on the Box Tops for Education program, including a list of participating products and our school’s progress, visit www.BTFE.com. Be sure to become a member to receive exclusive coupons and learn about extra ways for our school to earn.
I hope you’re excited for everything we can do this year with Box Tops! If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me at email@example.com. Please put BTFE at the beginning of your subject line when emailing me. I’m here to make our school’s Box Tops for Education program a huge success this year.
Thanks for your help!

6th Grade Junior Achievement Biz Town Field Trip
Taylor Road 6th Grade Parents,
The annual 6th grade Junior Achievement Biz Town field trip to the World Congress Center in Atlanta is fast approaching. This year, all 6th grade students will go on one of the following dates; September 17, 18, 19 or 20.
As part of our financial literacy standard, the students will become business owners for the day. As part of a student team, they will be in charge of running a “store” for their Biz Town experience.
Each year we appreciate the Taylor Road parents who volunteer to be a part of the JA Biz Town experience. Whether you are able to volunteer for one day, or multiple days, your assistance is greatly appreciated.
Please consider volunteering this year. The contact at Taylor Road is teacher Rod Berry. You can reach Mr. Berry at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We are looking forward to another exciting year at JA Biz Town!
Thanks for all you do.
Reminder from the Clinic
The clinic does not distribute any kind of medicine because we don’t know what kind of allergies the children have. However, if you would like to put some medicine in the clinic for your children to use, please fill out an SHS-1 form located on the website under “Clinic.” You can also fill out the SHS-2 form for basic non-prescription medication if you would like your child to carry it.
Children are not allowed to carry controlled substances to school.
If your child requires rescue medication, daily medication or has a health condition that we need to know about, please contact Tracy Morris at email@example.com.
In September and October alone, your PTA will host the Honor Roll Recognition Ceremony, Red Ribbon Week, the Reflections contest, and the 6th Grade Fall Dance. If you want to get on-board as a volunteer for any of these awesome events, please fill out our Volunteer Interest Survey at bit.ly/trmsptavolunteerinterestform. Need to check your schedule against our PTA calendar? Hop on over to http://bit.ly/2018-2019PTACalendar to do so.
