A Peek at our Week...

~This week we read A Turkey For Thanksgiving. This is an Animal Fantasy piece during which Mr. Moose goes looking for a turkey for Thanksgiving dinner. It has quite the surprise ending. Ask your child why Mr. Moose wanted a turkey for Thanksgiving.

~We worked on using what we already know and what a story tells us to draw conclusions. We also worked on visualizing. The author Eve Bunting uses many descriptive words in this story which made it easy for us to practice this skill. We use visualizing quite a bit in 2T. We often talk, especially during read aloud, about how good readers visualize, or make pictures in their heads matching what they are reading.

~We wrapped up our Unit on Matter with learning how heating and cooling can change matter and practiced for our test with a good old game of Jeopardy.

~In math we ended our measurement module by learning how to draw tape diagrams to compare numbers. The students did a great job! The students will continue to see tape diagrams as they move up through the grades.

Reminders...

~Friday, November 21st, 11:00-11:30: 2T performance of "Arthur's Thanksgiving."

~Monday, November 24 and Tuesday, November 25th: Parent Teacher Conferences.

Star of the Week...Sienna!

Sienna loves to read, she loves noodles, and hopes to be a famous horseback rider someday! She enjoys ballet, playing with Legos and drawing. She read to us one of her favorite books Fly Guy and the Frankenfly. We also think it's pretty cool that Sienna has a twin sister!!

Great job, Sienna!

Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.
