Schurr Announcements
"We can't heal the world today but we can begin with a voice of compassion, a heart of love, an act of kindness."
-Mary Davis
Support: Our heart goes out to our neighboring community, Monterey Park, in the wake of this weekend's senseless tragedy. Please know that we are here to support students and staff who are experiencing distress. Below are some resources that can support compassionate conversations:
- Talking to Children About Violence: Tips for Parents and Teachers (National Association of School Psychologists)
- How to Talk to Kids About Violence, Crime, and War (Common Sense Media)
Gratitude: We owe an enormous debt of gratitude to Vanessa Favela and Jackie Montanez for supporting the planning of Schurr Showcase. We also want to thank CSF and NHS students for their work in managing logistics for our evening event.
Gratitude: Thank you to Ms. Dan Li for coordinating Schurr's Inaugural Chinese New Year Celebration. Schurr will celebrate Chinese New Year in the Quad on Thursday during lunch time.
Schurr Showcase: Schurr will be hosting a Schurr Showcase on Thursday, Feb. 16th, from 5:00 to 7:00pm. We are also inviting EAI and MAI to bring their 8th graders to visit our campus that morning. Please see the current planned schedule. Thank you in advance for your support and hard work.
Integrated ELD: Please continue to emphasize students' Interpretation, Collaboration, and Production during instructional time in your content areas. Aside from being CA's ELA/ELD Part 1, this emphasis aligns with MUSD's 4 C's Graduate Profile and Schurr's focus on Self-Efficacy (0.92) through our mission to empower students to achieve Academic Excellence as Model Citizens
Model Citizens Data-Dive: Approximately sixty-five percent of our students completed the Panorama Survey. We hope for greater participation in future surveys. These are Schurr's Self-Efficacy Reports. Please contextualize with MUSD's Self-Efficacy Report for grades 6-12.
Attendance/Tardies: Our tardies continue to decrease. Thank you for your support.
Gratitude: Thank you to Schurr's Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) for the staff luncheon. Please click on this PTSA Membership Page to renew or create your PTSA membership.
Gratitude: Thank you to Schurr's counseling team. Thank you for pivoting to refer students who need additional support to graduate to Vail High School. Thank your for your hard work.
