Student Belongings Pick-up and School Property Drop-off
Parents and Guardians,
I am incredibly proud of how our school community has worked together to support our students in the distance learning process. I appreciate all the time and effort that our parents and caregivers have given to support our students. Though the school building is closed, we are able to provide an opportunity for families to pick up the student belongings and to drop off school property on May 26. We will be doing this in a drive-through process, to keep things as safe and quick as possible.
Caregivers/students/people picking up materials will remain in vehicles throughout the process. Each grade level will have a time slot to come to the circle drive at school. We encourage you to come during your specific grade level’s assigned window of time. However, if you are not able to come during that window, we will make things work if another grade’s window of time works for your family. Also, if you have children in multiple grade levels, you can come once or during each grade level’s window – that is up to you.
Highlights:
>Teachers are packing up a bag for your student that is full of the belongings from his or her desk and locker. Staff will be wearing masks and gloves as they approach your vehicle to bring your student’s bag of materials and to pick up your bag of school property.
>Please place the school materials such as textbooks, library books, novels, AR Books, and other school issued property in a bag marked with your child’s name. A staff member will grab that from your trunk or through the window.
>Keep your chromebook and charger, unless you are leaving the Crown Point Community School Corporation.
>Place a piece of paper in your passenger window with your student’s name and teacher’s name so we can quickly get the correct bag ready. Write big and bold!
>Yearbooks, panoramic pictures, and medication will be picked up during this visit, also.
Please carefully read this FLYER or look at the images below for dates, times, and detailed information about how the process will work.
Thank you,
Nick Ciochina

Social Emotional News from Mrs. Holok
Hi T-ball families!
I hope this finds you well and healthy. This has been a difficult time, one filled with lots of uncertainty. As difficult as it might seem right now, it is important that we find hope, especially for our children. I am sharing an article with you that describes simple ways to give kids positive encouragement and hope during this difficult time. Simply noticing our kids gives them hope. I miss seeing your kids’ smiling faces every day. I cannot wait for us to be together again!
Take good care,
Mrs. Holok
Article below is from Dr. Charles Fay of the Love and Logic Institute:
"Mommy! Look at me!”
“Daddy! Look at me!”
We’ve all heard this from our kids. We’ve also seen how their faces brighten when we stop what we are doing to notice their interests, unique gifts, or accomplishments. Built into our DNA is strong desire…a strong need…to be noticed.
Being noticed means that others enjoy us.
Being noticed means that we are valuable and loved.
Being noticed provides hope…even in the midst of very tough times.
Do this at least twice a week:
Say, “I notice that you___________."
Examples include:
•“I notice that you like to play with your cars. I noticed that.”
•“I notice that you like to talk on the phone with your friends.”
•“I notice that you keep your car really clean.”
•“I notice that you like to make things with wood.”
When our kids act like they don’t like being
noticed, it usually means that they need it all the more.
During tough times…like our world is experiencing right now…receiving the reassurance of being noticed goes a long way toward helping our kids cope. It decreases the odds that they will feel compelled to act out in order to gain our attention.
Thanks for reading! Our goal is to help as many families as possible.

Parents of K - 3 students, please follow this link to the Young Hoosier Book Picture Book voting page. https://www.ilfonline.org/page/2019-20YHBAPicture
Your children have qualified to vote for their favorite book of the 20 nominees. Normally, I would use a class period to help them through the process. Because of our unusual circumstances, the Indiana Library Federation has setup online voting and extended the deadline to June 1. Hopefully, your child will tell you about their favorite as you navigate through the link.
I hope all of you are well. I miss your children so much!
