SCENES OF LIFE through Gestalt Choreographic Theatre
20th - 26th April 2022
WHAT IS Gestalt Choreographic Theatre?
The choreographic theater itself, although it resembles other formulations, such as dance-theater, physical theater or image theater, distances itself from those in its way of fusing movement, language, expression and voice. We will give importance to the word, but without it dominating the scenic space and without the image being a mere illustration of the text.
The theater per se gives us a space of freedom for one's own exploration. It allows us to activate sensory and bodily memories and raise awareness about alienated aspects of our Being.
The movement and expression of the body disincentifies us from the mind and invites us to be spontaneous and creative, helping us to dissolve inner demands and judgments. If we add to this the depth and effectiveness of Gestalt Therapy - as a way to be in the world, to look through the body and its expression and to pick up and listen to those unexpressed emotions of our life - then we will face what we call "Gestalt Choreographic Theater"
WHAT DID WE DO?
With this youth exchange through the Gestalt Choreographic Theater we proposed a scenic experience oriented to emotional health and personal awareness.
A trip along the river of your life, where we invite the young people to explore interior landscapes, more unconscious but equally present, that inhabit us.
A changing, dynamic and fluid process where music drew the landscape and our body became the boat that runs through that river that are our sensations and our emotions on the way to the sea of consciousness.
The contents to work in the workshop were:
a) Inhabiting the body, deconstructing and dissociating it through open guidelines for the development of conscious movement.
b) Free the body as an expressive tool through guided improvisation work.
c) Develop listening to the intention of the body as a therapeutic tool: resistance and non-resistance.
d) Polarities and antagonistic characters
e) Contact and withdrawal as a fundamental polarity of the human being
