Rogers and Roberts Class Update
ELA
This week we read many Cinderella stories so that we compare and contrast the different versions from different cultures. We discussed why different cultures have similar stories and discovered that these stories are used to teach a lesson or moral. Even more fun were the "fractured fairy tales" that took original tales and changed the setting, characters, or point of view to make the story more interesting. ( Ask your student about Bubba the Cowboy Prince) Students are writing their own "fractured fairy tales" and will finish them next week.
Math
The class is continuing to work on operations and algebraic reasoning. The NC Landmark project is due on Monday. If you get a chance this weekend, please have your child share their project with you. They should be about finished. Problem Solving is going well. I love to see the light in their eyes when they figure out a difficult problem.
