Holy Name Highlights
October 27, 2017
Note from the Principal's Desk
Friday Greetings!
We had another great week! As the cold weather seems to be settling in, please be sure to send your kids with jackets and other cold weather gear! We will still be going outside for recess until the temperature drops significantly more! As we are now a couple of weeks into the second quarter, be sure to be checking Jupiter regularly for updated grades and progress. Be sure to reach out to the teachers with any concerns.
Have a great weekend!
-Mr. Kitchens
Middle School Math Update
As many of you know, Mrs. Ratcliff is expecting her second child sometime in early December. In lieu of seeking an outside maternity leave substitute teacher, we are excited that Mrs. Buckel will be stepping in to teach the 6th and 7th grade math classes while Mrs. Ratcliff is on maternity leave. We will be covering any technology classes that Mrs. Buckel will have to miss with the staff that we currently have.
Also, Mr. Mitchell and his wife welcomed their first child this morning. During his time off over the next week, Mr. Kitchens will be teaching the 8th grade math classes.

"The Archdiocese of Indianapolis Catholic Charities would like to thank each of the students and faculty who donated so generously to our neighbors in the south who have lost so much in the recent hurricanes. We are so very grateful."

Grades K-8: Winter Training Cycle
This season we are going to implement a new plan for our K-8 Group starting on Monday, October 30. This practice plan will be in effect on Monday and Thursday evenings from October 30 - March 1. You may register your child for RWF before or after practice on Mondays and Thursdays beginning October 30th, you may join the club at any time during the season. RWF is a year-around program that offers both training and competitions. We are committed to providing opportunities that will allow the athlete to continue to grow and flourish in our sport and in life!
Practice Plan:
Beginner Group 6:30pm-7:30pm
Advanced Group 6:30pm-8:00pm
We will begin practice with a warm up as 1 whole group from 6:30-6:45pm using both mats. Beginner Group will then practice from 6:45-7:30pm on one mat. Advanced Group will practice on one mat from 6:45-7:30pm. During these 45 minutes each group will be working on different techniques and drills that are suitable for their experience levels. We have very qualified staff members working with both groups instructing them on how to improve their wrestling skills during these 45 minutes. At 7:30pm the Beginner Group will be dismissed from the wrestling room. At 7:30pm the Advanced Group will be given a short water/restroom break. Then, the Advanced Group will go through an intense live wrestling and conditioning workout from 7:35-8:00pm using both mats.
The Coaching Staff will monitor our athletes’ progression as we move through the season, and determine if we feel a wrestler needs to be moved up to the Advanced Group or vice versa if the wrestler needs to be moved down to the Beginner Group. We are confident that this practice plan will best accommodate the needs of all of our RWF Athletes, and provide an environment that is suitable for all ages and ability levels to enjoy our great sport!
