High School Happenings
Friday, January 17th
- Mrs. Trettin will mentor 22 DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) members in the District contest in Waverly. Students choose a career cluster they wish to compete in Marketing, Finance, Hospitality, and Management. DECA competition consists of a 100 question exam in their cluster area and then a role-play interaction with a judge. Students are given a business scenario and have 10-15 minutes to prepare. They then go in front of a judge and complete the role play. They are given a score consisting of how well they met performance indicators and 21st-century skills.
- Mr. Khyl will take 5 Esport team members to compete in League of Legends tournament in Normal, Illinois.
- Jostens will be here to do cap and gown orders for our 2020 graduates.
- Speech Large Group Contest in Decorah. Ms. Garrelts will take 20 students grades 9-12 to participate this year. Examples of categories that students will participate in are Acting & Mime. Anyone who delivers a Division 1 performance will qualify for District State in Dubuque.
Congratulations to seven seniors earning 2019 Academic All-State.
