New energy Source!
May 6th, 2016
My name is Kayla Larson and here at my lab with all of my trained scientist, we have discovered how to use nuclear fusion as an energy source! Nuclear fusion is a nuclear reaction in which two or more atomic nuclei collide with each other at high speeds and for a new nucleus! When these two nuclei collide together they are tightly bonded together and energy is being produced.
FUSION VS. FISSION
Fusion occurs when two or more smaller atoms fuse together while Nuclear Fission is splitting the large atom into smaller ones. Nuclear fusion also creates much larger amounts of energy than nuclear fission. Thus making the two very different.
SAFETY CONCERNS AND PRECAUTIONS
When using Nuclear Fusion there are many concerns where safety falls. There are always possibilities of a fuel melt down, possible release of tritium, and radioactive waste affecting the environment around the lab.
This discovery of using Nuclear Fusion as an energy source can impact the economy in a positive way. There are no energy limitations. This means that it can be recreated without the fear of having to many greenhouse gases/pollution in the environment. It is much cheaper and would lead to more people have the ability to afford it. Compared to all other energy sources, nuclear is cheaper along with wind energy.
