Isbell Elementary
Loving Every Minute of Learning!
Dodson’s Dish
As we head into the spring, I wanted to send a couple of quick reminders.
As the warmer weather approaches, and legs get longer; we’d like to remind parents and students of FISD’s dress code policy. Please review the policy as outlined on pages 16-17 of the http://www.friscoisd.org/docs/default-source/district-resource-library/es_handbook.pdf?sfvrsn=2 and note that students who are in violation of dress code standards will be asked to change clothes during the school day (students will not be allowed to call home for a change of clothes). Thank you for your support.
Families play an important role in the school success of children. There are many different ways that you can get involved and support your children’s learning. Whether you attend PTA meetings, volunteer in your child’s classroom, help with the book fair, or just read with your child at home each night, you are making a contribution that will help your child do well in school.
Family engagement is strong at Isbell, but we’d like to make it even better and make sure our program meets the needs of families, students, and teachers. You can help us form a better partnership between school and home by giving constructive feedback using the survey below.
Please complete the link to this survey online by March 25, 2016. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/7YF228F
If you have any questions about the survey or about our school’s current family-engagement opportunities, please don’t hesitate to give me a call. My number is 469-633-3400. I’m always glad to talk with you.
Sincerely,
Serita Dodson
STARR TESTING INFORMATION
Dear Parents of Third, Fourth, and Fifth Grade Students,
RE: Snacks on the day of STAAR Testing
This year Isbell will not be providing snacks for STAAR testing day due to the amount of allergies in our student population. Therefore, your child will need to bring their own healthy snack and water on testing days. Please make sure the snack is NOT sticky, messy, leaves a residue, and does not require an eating utensil. Also, please check that the water bottles do not leak when tipped. Examples of suggested snacks: pretzels, goldfish, crackers. We would not want the scoring of your child’s answer document to be effected by smudges and spills.
We appreciate your help in preserving the integrity of the testing material and testing environment.
Due to test security, no visitors or volunteers are allowed in the building on a test day. Please mark your calendars for the following dates:
Fifth Grade:
- March 29th – Math
- March 30th – Reading
- May 11th - Science
Fourth Grade:
- March 29th – Writing
- May 9 th – Math
- May 10th Reading
Third Grade:
- May 9th - Math
- May 10th Reading
For all GRADE Levels that are testing, there will be make-up days throughout the week.
Make Up Dates

May 9th and 10th for all 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders
