Principal's Message
We have just 7 days of school until winter break begins. There is a lot of energy and excitement around the building and we are looking forward to continuing to learn and grow until then.
We have Pajama Day on Friday, December 17th to celebrate the upcoming winter break. Students can wear their favorite cozy pajamas to school. They will still go outside for recess so be sure they are warm and they have appropriate shoes as well.
As a reminder, our Lost and Found is very full. There are many hoodies, jackets, water bottles, etc. located on the rack. If your child is missing an item, please encourage them to check the Lost and Found. Items not collected by December 17th will be donated to charity. If your child needs help checking the Lost and Found please contact our office.
We look forward to returning after Winter Break on Monday, January 3rd. Please mark your calendar for 2 non-school days in January, the 17th and the 28th.
Happy Holidays,
Stacie Moncrief
Principal, Gilbert Park

Youth Truth Family Survey - We'd Like Your Feedback!
We are asking for just 15 minutes of your time to complete an online survey that will help us improve your child’s school. We have asked YouthTruth – a nonprofit organization that supports hundreds of schools and districts across the county – to conduct an anonymous survey on our behalf.
Please take the survey before it closes at midnight on 12-17-2021 by clicking this link: ytsurvey.org/ddsdfamily21.
Please note:
The survey needs to be completed in one sitting.
We ask that one member of each household fill out the survey.
If you have more than one child who attends the same school, you may respond to the survey multiple times - one time per child.
If you write any comments, please do not include your name or anything else that might identify you. Your responses are anonymous, and they will be combined with the responses of other parents and guardians before being shared back with school and district leadership.
We sincerely thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. Your response is incredibly valuable to us.
If you have any questions about the survey or our plans for how we will use your feedback, please contact Stacie Moncrief, Principal at stacie_moncrief@ddsd40.org.
GP Coin Drive for this year's Scots Angel
We are having a schoolwide coin drive for Sami, this year's Scots' Angel, beginning Monday December 6 and ending on Friday December 17.
This year's Scots' Angel is a 6-year-old named Sami Abdallah. Sami is a kind, bright, generous young man. Sammy has been diagnosed with T cell lymphoblastic lymphoma cancer. He has
been battling cancer since November 2020. Sami is currently receiving treatment through Doernbecher's Children’s Hospital in Portland. Please help us alleviate some of the financial burdens on the amazing family. 100% of every dollar raised goes directly to the family through the Scots Angels program at David Douglas.
Coin Containers are in each classroom. If students bring in bills or checks, they will bring their donation to the office.
Mrs. Topolski created this slideshow to present to our classes to launch the fundraiser. Also, here is the link to the Scotsangels website for more information about the Scots Angel Program.
