Warrior Way Tickets

This past month our students worked hard to demonstrate positive behavior by following the Warrior Way expectations of:

BE Safe

BE Respectful

BE Responsible

In a two week period the students earned a total of 1,484 tickets! Way to go, Tainter Warriors!

January Celebration

To earn those 1,484 tickets the students voted for these three choices:

Silly String: 323

Pie in the face: 458

Snow Jump: 703

On February 4th, Mrs. Walker and Mr. Ohlfs jumped in the cold, cold snow without any snow gear on, while Mr. Kinnick sprinkled snow on us with a snow shovel. This celebration was streamed live to all of the students.

February Celebration Choices

This month Tainter students will get to choose from three new choices after each time they earn a Warrior Way ticket. Those choices are:

All School Bingo

Switch Your Teacher Time

Dance Party w/Mrs. Jensen

We will find out which celebration has the most ticket votes in one week!

Art Room News

We have been having a lot of fun in art-here's what's happening!!

Kindergarten- Students learned a little about our cold weather loving birds, penguins! We drew penguins and painted them with watercolors, and snow since penguins LOVE the cold! For Valentine's Day we looked at the art of Pop Artist Jim Dine who loved painting hearts! We painted our own hearts in his style.

1st Grade-Students made ice cream cone snow people and also worry stone charms from Sculpey clay. This is a tradition from ancient Greece

2nd Grade-Students just finished beautiful Mandalas. A very old art form found in just about every part of the world, Mandalas are circular designs with repeating line, shape, and color patterns. We colored them using only the COOL colors from the color wheel.

3rd Grade-Students sculpted very realistic cats and dogs using model magic clay. Currently we are learning about and painting traditional African Bark Cloth designs.

4th Grade-Students learned about Pop Art sculpture and made 'mini meals' and treats using model magic clay. Currently we are learning about traditional Pennsylvania Dutch Barn Stars. Students are designing and will be painting their designs in the coming weeks.

Every moment with these creative and energetic students is joyful! Be sure to ask your child about what they've been making in art-there should be beautiful things coming home in backpacks!
