What's Happening at ATP?
October 19 - 23, 2020
Dear Students, Families, and Staff
This week we met with students, families, and staff about our plan to re-enter onto our school campus. Thank you to everyone who joined us for our meeting. If you were not able to join, here is a recording of the meeting.
In this week's edition of What's Happening at ATP, I want to continue preparing our students and staff with our new protocols for wearing masks. Recently the district sent information about wearing masks on campus. Here is the link to the Parent Resource Letter Masks. All students will be required to wear a mask. For students who cannot wear a mask due to medical conditions or aspects related to their disability, we will use positive behavior reinforcement to increase students' tolerance for wearing their masks or increase their time keeping their time wearing their masks. In their zoom meetings, teachers will have lessons or activities related to wearing masks. As we prepare to re-enter back to our campus, we want to start modeling and practicing wearing our mask even for five to ten minutes each day to build our tolerance.
What's been happening this week in our virtual classrooms??
Sharing some positivity on Wednesday Wisdom! Each Wednesday, join us in wearing and sharing positivity around our school and community. We will take pictures each week.
Be creative, make your own shirt to share!
People with COVID-19 have had a wide range of symptoms reported – ranging from mild symptoms to severe illness. Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus.
Our safety video was sent to all families via email, text, websites, and social media, in English and Spanish, giving a tour of what campuses will look like when students re-enter for hybrid instruction. The video helps illustrate school entrance with temperature checking, signage around campus, and other safety measures. Feel free to share this video with your communities as you see fit.
To view the video with subtitles, Spanish-speaking parents and guardians can follow the steps in this instructional video, which will be included in our communication.
What is our schedule for hybrid and in-person learning?
OUSD Adult Transition Program (OATP)
The adult transition program (ATP) serves students with disabilities who are between the ages of 18 and 22. ATP prepares students to participate in educational, employment, and community-based activities. Daily instruction focuses on activities of daily living and includes opportunities to practice these skills within the classroom and their community. ATP provides a bridge to support students in accessing post-secondary options including courses at local colleges, obtaining competitive integrated employment, and participating in regionalized programs. The primary goal for ATP is to promote opportunities for students to become more independent and become contributing members of their communities.
