Principal's Post
Dear Parents and Guardians,
What an amazing year! Although it started off rocky with isolation / quarantine, 2nd semester eased us back into some normalcy. We were able to watch our athletes, attend performances, and finally welcome you all back on campus. The turnout at our SIC Family Night was proof we truly have a partnership to ensure Rawlinson Road is the best it can be! Thank you to the amazing parents and guardians that have supported RRMS in educating their children. Help limit the "summer slide" by having them read over the summer. We distributed books and bookmarks for a summer challenge (see details below). Mental and physical health takes being intentional: limit social media, encourage exercise, and good sleep is vital. We care about the whole child and that does not stop during summer. It has been an honor to principal these Raiders. Best of luck to our 8th graders moving on and we look forward to greeting the rest in August. Information about our orientation dates for the 2022-2023 school year will be sent in July.
Enjoy your summer!
Warm Regards,
Heather Andrus

Summer Bridge Program for Rising 6th Graders
This summer at Rawlinson Road Middle School we are offering our Summer Bridge Program that some students may benefit from. The Summer Bridge opportunity is designed to support students with making the transition to Rawlinson Road Middle School. The dates are July 25-26, 2022, with a maximum of 25 students selected. This may benefit students who:
- who struggle with math and reading.
- students who need assistance with social emotional learning (could be connected to behavior).
- students who will need assistance with simply transitioning to middle school.
Additional information: breakfast/lunch provided, and lots of enrichment activities.

- If your child has medication in the health room, please come by to pick it up by the last day of school, May 26, 2022. If medication is not picked up, it will be destroyed since medication may not be left in the health room over the summer.
- All 7th graders in South Carolina are required to provide documentation that they have received a Tdap vaccine in order to attend school. If you receive a letter in your child’s report card envelope about the Tdap vaccine, then no Tdap vaccination has been documented at school for your child. Your child will need to either get the vaccine or provide documentation of having received the vaccine.

Food Service for next school year
USDA has not extended free meals to next school year. As such, we will be returning to students paying for their meals. Please plan on having all students come through the line for both breakfast and lunch starting on the first day of school so that we can receive any moneys needed to pay for their meal.
Applications for free and reduced meals for the 22-23 school year will be made available in July. They will again be available to fill out online. Hard copies will be sent to each school. Spanish and English versions will be available.
