Principal's Message

Dear Royal Families,

I had the good fortune of having a close up view to all that happened this week at Quist and it was truly inspiring. Our WEB Leaders and Exploratory teachers, in conjunction with Mrs. Darcy Brown, planned a truly EPIC Field day experience. The joy in the air, even with the heat, was palpable and contagious. Students and staff had huge smiles on their faces enjoying themselves immensely. In addition to all of that, we got to celebrate our 8th graders with a virtual continuation ceremony and a parade. This was our first, inaugural group of 6th graders who were with us all three years. They will always be a special bunch of students in my heart. We wish all of our Royals well and hope everyone has a happy and safe summer! Our office will be open until our office staff leaves for summer break. Their last day is June 3rd. This will be our last communication until we open up again in mid-July.

Have a great summer break! To our sixth and seventh graders, we look forward to seeing you soon. To our eighth graders, we wish you the very best in high school!

Learning Format for 2021-2022

Late last week you should have received a notification regarding the learning format for next school year. While some things are still up in the air, we are planning for 4 days of in-person learning for all students at Quist. We will organize our master schedule in such a way that should we need to flex to a hybrid approach for a short time, we will have the ability to do so. If you need more clarification or have specific questions about this, please contact me at tnorrisbuck@sd27j.net.

Chromebook Information

Our 6th and 7th grade students who are returning to Quist will be able to take their Chromebook home with them for either summer learning or summer enrichment opportunities and then bring them back in August. (One of these opportunities, Dreambox, is explained below.) Our Technology Department has created this document with useful tips and information on how to keep the Chromebook in good working order as well as troubleshoot any issues. If you have an eighth grader, this information is a little bit different and is outlined below. If your student won't be returning to Quist next year, even if they are returning to another 27J school, we will need to collect their chromebook.

Chromebook Donation Opportunity for 8th graders

For the past couple of weeks we have shared an awesome opportunity for 8th grade students who do not need/want their 27J issued device (see here). Mr. Ayi Bonte will be heading to Ghana this summer. This is a last call for any donations of Chromebooks to be turned in to the school no later than Thursday, June 3. Please contact Mr. Ayi Bonte at aayibonte@27J.net or Darcy Brown at dbrown@ 27j.net with any questions.

Dreambox Mathematics Application

Every Quist student (except those who are enrolled in either Integrated I or Integrated II) now has access to Dreambox, an instructional tool to support mathematics, through their onelogin tile. Here is a short explanation and video to help provide background information. You can also refer to this parent portal document to learn more. You might consider having your child spend 30 minutes a day in either Dreambox or reading activities.
