Licence Types

Public Domain and examples

Definition- Isn’t protected by copyright law for many reasons such as expired, for public money, donated it into public domain.

Example -Old books like Romeo and Juliet can just be copied.

Freeware and examples

Definition- Copyrighted that you can use, copy or give away for free

Example- You can use iTunes for free and things like that without paying any money.

Shareware and examples

Definition- Like freeware but it only gives you a sample and you have to pay for the full version.

Example-You can try it out and see if u like it before paying for the full version for example Pandora.

All Rights Reserved and examples

Definition- May be used by the purchaser according to the exact details spelled out in the license agreement.

Example- Nice because once you buy it you have all access for example Microsoft Word .

Open Source and examples

Definition- Software that improves the source code with the idea that someone can improve upon it.

Example-You can make it do little things and extensions and personalize it like Chrome and Firefox.
