After school expectations for walkers and bikers:
Over the course of the last few days/weeks it has been brought to our attention that a handful of kids are not going home in the afternoon but they are instead staying and playing on the playground.
Please note that the expectation for our walkers is that they walk home and that the expectation for our bikers is that they bike home each day. If a child remains after school to play on the playground they absolutely must have a parent/guardian/sitter that is responsible for them. This is truly a safety concern as kids have gotten hurt, gotten stuck in the rain, or have just gotten stuck and have been unable to safely get home because the crossing guards are off duty. We, as a campus, do not have staff members on duty to watch them and can not guarantee their safety after we dismiss them. We are also unable to guarantee who your child will be around or what they are doing if they are here unsupervised after hours.
We have received phone calls from worried parents because their children haven't made it home, we have found crying children that were caught in the rain with no adult to take them home, and we have had kids that have gotten hurt because they stayed to play with friends. When we dismiss our kids we are sending them home based on how you want them to go home so, if they are walkers or bikers, then that is how they need to go home each day. Just to reiterate, for safety reasons please remind your kids to go home after school and to not stay and play without adult supervision.
Thank you.

Red Ribbon week was so awesome this year.I hope your child discussed with you how poisons can affect your body and ways to make healthy choices. Older students practices refusal skills and heard important facts from Officer Freeman about high risk behaviors. As parents, continue to talk with your child about safety and ways that they can say no in situations that present danger. These links provide good talking points.
