Often it is easier to grab fast food on the way to and from places, but its not a healthy habit. Eating out is okay every once in a while, but it shouldn't become an everyday thing. Fast food lacks the nutrients required for growth. Eating a poor diet can put teens at risk for Type 2 Diabetes.
Calorie Demand
The calorie demand increases during this time of growth and developement. The average teenager needs 1600-2000 calories, while an active teenager can need up to 4000 calories.
Changes Happening
During adolescence, many changes are going on. Changes in hormones often disrupt the sleep cycle. Females experience an increase in estrogen, which can help prevent certain diseases and cancers. The systolic blood pressure of an adolescent increases puts them at risk for heart diseases and hypertension.
