•• New & Important Information ••
Main office building admission
Beginning Tuesday, January 16, we will begin locking the entrance doors in the main office building at Cottage Lake. Many visitors have noticed that we had key card readers installed with our security cameras, but we have not been using them to date. This will change beginning this coming week.
The doors will remain unlocked until about 9:50 AM. After that time, when you come to the front door, you will need to push the button/door bell to alert the front office staff that you are at the door. The front office will see you on the camera and then they can buzz you in. They will unlock the door and you will pull it open to enter.
I have heard from many of you that you wonder about this type of security for our main classroom buildings. I share your interest in this, but I do not have any information to share as to when that could happen. I do continually ask our Safety and Security department, but they also don't have information. I promise to continue to advocate for our student's and staff's safety.
If you have questions, please reach out to the front office.
Smart watches and cell phones during school
We have noticed a big increase in students who have cell phones or smart watches at school. Students have been receiving texts or messages on their devices and this is a distraction to their learning.
If you choose to send your child with a cell phone, it must stay in the backpack and be turned off/silent at all times while at school. If a student needs to make a call during the day, they should talk to their teacher to do this. If a parent or family member needs to contact a student, they should do so through the office, not the student’s cell phone or smart watch during the school day. Recording/video devices are not allowed at school. School phones are available in all classrooms and the school office.
Cell-phone capable watches may not be used for phone calls or texting during the school day. If the watch is just used as a watch, it may be used, but there should not be texting or calls made or received during the school day.

Kindergarten Registration for 2024-2025 opens January 8!
Dear Northshore Families and Prospective Families:
New student enrollment, including Kindergarten, for the 2024-25 school year begins on January 8, 2024. Families who have students currently enrolled in a Northshore school this school year do not need to re-enroll, but we would appreciate it if you would please share this information with friends, family, and neighbors who may have new students.
Enrollment is completed online. Directions on how to enroll, including what documentation is required, can be found on the District enrollment webpage. The webpage will be updated on January 8 to reflect 2024-25 enrollment.
By enrolling in early January for the 2024-25 school year, there are a number of benefits:
- Connection to your child’s school community including information about school tours and Kindergarten events; and
- Early enrollment helps the district correctly staff classrooms, services, and prepare for great learning environments for our students.
Choice School applications will open on January 22, 2024 for all students. In addition to excellent neighborhood schools, Northshore offers a variety of choice schools and programs. A choice school may be exactly what your child needs to thrive academically and socially. Students will be invited to apply directly to our Choice Schools. To learn more about Northshore’s Choice School options visit our Choice School webpage.
If you need help enrolling your child or children for school, please contact your child’s future school for enrollment information and support. Your neighborhood school is based on your home address. You can find your child’s neighborhood school by using the Address Look Up Tool.
