Beaverton School District College Planning Nights:
Latino College Night Nov. 6th 5:30-7: 30 pm at Beaverton High School.
Finding Affordable Colleges Nov. 8th 6:30-8:00 pm at Beaverton High School.
Volunteer:
Play.Fit.Fun offers after-school volunteer opportunities for high school students who would like to coach and mentor elementary school students. Contact President of Play.Fit.Fun Spencer Rubin directly 971.732.4745 to learn more.
Financial Aid:
The FAFSA, ORSAA, and Oregon Promise applications are important financial forms for every senior to complete. Find more information at https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/
College:
Seniors...trying to decide which college is for you? Don't forget to check out the preview days offered by colleges and universities.
The National College Fair October 28 & 29 will be held at the Oregon Convention Center on October 28 from 1 to 5 pm and October 29 from 9 am to Noon. Over 260 colleges and universities will be at the fair, and workshop sessions will be offered on topics related to college admission and financial aid. The event is free and open to the public. Remember to bring your own bag to collect college materials at the fair. Be sure to visit https://www.nacacfairs.org/attend/national-college-fairs/portland-national-college-fair/
for registration details and guidance in preparing to attend the fair.
Colleges visiting WHS next week are: Boston College, Carnegie Mellon University, Central Washington University, Johns Hopkins University, Pacific University, Butler University, Hawaii Pacific University, Smith College, Trinity University, University of Aberdeen, University of San Diego, University of Vermont, Willamette University, Babson College, Southwestern University, Tulane University, Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
Career:
Lift & Move Crane and Rigging Operators Open House. Learning stations, Lunch, Simulators, Table Top Displays, Thurs. Oct. 11th 8:00am – 1:30pm. Students talk with craft professionals, hands-on stations for mobile crane operators, tower cranes, rigging, maintenance, safety, engineering, management, simulators, training, and transportation. New this week on our WHS Technology for Parents and Students Site:
- Two amazing authors will be visiting BSD schools this month to give author talks. Sonia Nazario (author of Enrique's Journey) will speak at Southridge and William Ritter (author of the mystery series Jackaby) will be speaking at Sunset. For more information, click here: http://bit.ly/whsfuture
