Synthesis Reaction

chocolate syrup + milk = chocolate milk

Carbon reacts with oxygen gas to produce carbon dioxide. This reaction occurs in the earths atmosphere and is produced by plants in respiration.

Decomposition Reaction

oreo cookie= chocolate wafer + icing

NH4OH(aq) = H2O(l) + NH3(g)

Aqueous ammonium hydroxide produces liquid water and gas ammonia. this reaction occurs in fertilizer.

Single Replacement Reaction

a hook + captain = captain hook + hook's hand

2Fe2O3(s) + 3C(s) = 4Fe(s) + 3CO2(g)

Ferric oxide and carbon react to produce solid iron and carbon dioxide. Carbon replaces the iron because it is more reactive and higher on the activity series. This reaction occurs in the steel industry where a type of coal (coke) is used to replace iron out of ferric oxide.

Double Replacement Reaction

girl with a pink hat + a boy with a blue hat = a girl with a blue hat + a boy with a pink hat

AgNO3(aq) + KCl(aq) = AgCl(s) + KNO3(aq)

Silver nitrate mixed with potassium chloride reacts to produce silver chloride and potassium nitrate. Silver chloride is used as a antidote for mercury poisoning and potassium nitrate is used to remove tree stumps.

Combustion Reaction

girl + bad test grade = very angry girl

C3H8(g) + 5O2(g) = 3CO2(g) + 4H2O(l)

Propane gas and oxygen gas combust to produce carbon dioxide and water. This reaction occurs when propane gas is burned or when you use a grill.
