Newsletter Week 1 Term 4
Tainui Full Primary School 22 October 2021
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Kia ora, Kia orana, Talofa, Bula, Greetings
What a wonderful start to our term. We've hit the ground running and learning is occurring across our school. The teachers met in the term break and prepared for the last 8 weeks of the term as best we can under these uncertain times. While there is discretion on what we may do at this alert level (subject to meeting public health requirements) we have been encouraged to take a precautionary approach when deciding whether to host a gathering or large event.
As you know we are at Alert Level 2 and we are unsure when we will be shifting out of this alert level and so we want to give some certainty to you, our tamariki and staff; making sure we have a clear path forward until the end of this year. Therefore, we are not making changes mid way in to our already busy term and we've decided to avoid such events like:
- Prize giving - this will not be a big event for the community instead the staff are going to be looking at providing a different model which could be done as a virtual occasion.
- School Wide Sporting events will be held at a classroom level.
- Education outside the classroom will be carefully planned for and will strictly follow the guidelines for Alert Level 2. Our clear message from the Ministry of Education is that unless it is an event that is really necessary to give effect to the curriculum the recommendation is that we avoid such events.
We want to end our term on a high and we definitely want to make sure our tamariki and staff are cared for and safe. We have really appreciated the support from you all and know that together we will get through this.
As you are aware vaccines are mandated for all staff across schools. All staff must of had their first vaccine by 15 November and be fully vaccinated by 1st January 2022. At this time there is quite a bit of information coming out about why it is important for educators to be vaccinated this detail can be found on the Ministry of Health's website.

Nga Pēpī Manu- Transition to school
Ngā Pēpī Manu-Transition to School
Kia ora, Kia Orana Talofa lava & greetings whānau,
Our Ngā Pēpī Manu programme supports your tamariki during their transition to primary school life. Every child adapts differently when finding a sense of belonging in new environments, all who are involved should make this a positive experience. We will work together to create a plan and timetable that will suit the needs of the child and family.
Our programme will run Monday to Thursday from 9am-1.30pm. The number of visits we recommend before starting school is six weeks. In the first three weeks visits will be two times a week and the last three weeks visits will be three times a week. If there is a need for more visits to support the transition, that can be arranged. We look forward to meeting with you and working together to grow competent and confident children for our future.
