Campus of Distinction Recognition

We are excited to announce that Red Rock Elementary earned a "Campus of Distinction" designation for Comparative Academic Growth.

Colorado River Collegiate Academy also earned a "Campus of Distinction" designation in four separate categories: Social Studies, Comparative Academic Growth, Postsecondary Readiness. and Comparative Closing the Gaps.

Principals Kelly Hubley (RRE) and Martin Conrardy (CRCA) were honored at Tuesday's board meeting, along with some of their team members, who showed up for the celebration. Congratulations to the students, teachers, and campus leaders at RRE and CRCA for working together to achieve these school gains!

Their Future Is Our Focus!

This year we have a major attendance initiative to get our children coming to school each and every school day. When students come to school, they have access to teachers, to learning, and to achieving! When students come to school, it also means that your school receives all of the funding it needs to pay teachers and staff, to purchase supplies and materials, and to offer incredible extracurricular opportunities to our students.

Please help us by getting your student to school on time each and every day. Whether it's pre-k or 12th grade, all students should be in school. Check out this chart so that you can see your child's school goal and where things stand at this point in the year.

Volunteer Opportunities

Bastrop ISD is amplified by the support and dedication of our volunteers. VOLY is a new platform in BISD that will connect our schools and student groups that need volunteering with people in our community who want to volunteer.

There are numerous ways to get involved, and there's something for everyone! Here are just a few ideas:

  • Supervising students at lunch or recess
  • Chaperoning a field trip
  • Helping plant a school garden
  • Running the scoreboard for a game
  • Organizing fundraising events
  • Collecting materials for a project
  • Taking care of a class pet during a vacation
  • Adopt-A-School

Teachers and school groups are beginning to list their volunteer opportunities in VOLY so be sure to check often. Learn about all of volunteer opportunities by signing up at https://bastropisd.voly.org. Once approved as a volunteer, you can also download the Voly app and track your volunteer hours so that your school gets credit for all of your work and partnership!

Student Surveys Launching Soon

Building social-emotional skills is important for both students and adults as we learn to develop confidence, build relationships, and be successful. To that end, students and teachers are participating in exercises to better understand key concepts of social emotional learning and reflect on how they perceive these concepts in themselves.

Between now and November 4, students in grades 3-12 will complete an online survey at school that will ask them to reflect on skills such as Grit, Growth Mindset, Self-Efficacy, Self-Management, Sense of Belonging, School Safety, and Teacher-Student Relationships. We will use their confidential responses as valuable insight into their experience at school and how we can improve and adapt to better meet their needs.

We are partnering with Panorama Education to support us in administering these surveys.

Community Opportunity: Women's Leadership Training

The 2nd Annual Women's Leadership Retreat will be held on November 12-13 at McKinney Roughs Nature Park in Cedar Creek. This event is sponsored by Bastrop County Cares, St. David's Foundation, Bluebonnet Counseling Association, and Children's Advocacy Center.

This free opportunity is for women 18 and older who may not currently see themselves as leaders but who have the desire to develop leadership skills. This is a two-day event with housing available at McKinney Roughs.
