PLP Conferences February 20 - 22 - Please see attachment of schedule to confirm your time!
News from Ms. Hess
In math, we are working with adding and subtracting fractions using fraction tiles. This allows kids to have a hands-on method for discovering finding a common denominator. Check out IXL items L6 and L9 to see fraction tiles being used.
In literacy, we are working to summarize information from our social studies text about the Settlement of Roanoke and Jamestown using the somebody/ wanted/ but/ so / then strategy. Ask your child to summarize what happened at Roanoke.
In science, we learned about the sensory systems of the brain. We discussed how animals use hearing to survive. We also played some fun brain games - see below!
We had a visit from Mary Bulger, Iowa County Naturalist, where we learned about the tracks animals leave, created plaster of Paris casts of an animal's print, and went outside to look for evidence of tracks.
