How much do you think the book fairs impact the students?
“I would say pretty well because it gives them a chance to get new books that they want. It also encourages the students to go home and read with their parents.”

What do you find interesting about the book fair?
“I really liked the theme of the fair this year; impact. It reminded me of fall, because of the colors and the books that were out for selection.”
Fall Pep Rally
On, September 27th we had our homecoming pep rally in the high school gym. Sports teams started everything off with a run in and words of thanks and congratulations from the coaches. Homecoming court was announced and then the cheerleaders started with some cheers to see who could win the spirit stick and later Student Council had some games. They had “Mummify” where a few elementary students got to wrap a varsity team member in toilet paper and the one who was most wrapped after using the whole roll won. In another game “Hula Toss” teachers and students competed to see who could toss a hula hoop on a pumpkin first. There was apple bobbing as well and for the last few minutes, the varsity volleyball and girls’ soccer teams played a volleyball game. After it all, students were excited for the games and homecoming!
Elementary Family School Lunches
Parent and Grandparent Lunches for 1st Grade
As a little kid, you always look forward to that day that you could have your parents, family, or grandparents come to school for a day and eat lunch with them. This month I was given the opportunity to go to the elementary during their parent grandparent lunch and interact with the kids, their families, as well as get Mrs. Shoemaker's opinion on having these types of lunches every year. One student that I talked to had the biggest smile on his face because he told me, “I love when my mommy and daddy can come to eat lunch with me!” In between talking to different families, I took a minute and sat with Mrs. Shoemaker and some children whose families could not make it that day. It's very nice to know that if a child does not have someone to eat lunch with a member of the faculty or a parent volunteer from another grade will come to sit with them and talk while they eat lunch. While sitting with some of the children and Mrs. Shoemaker, I had to the chance to ask her how she feels about doing this lunch every year. She made it very clear that this lunch is a positive event for the student's and families to have because the kids look forward to their families meeting their friends and see what lunch looks like for them every day. Kindergarten, first, and second grade have already had their family lunches and in the weeks to come third through fifth grades will also their lunches.

Fire Prevention- October 12th, 2018
Stop, drop, and roll! That’s right, Fannett Metal Elementary has hosted another annual fire prevention. So what is the purpose of this event? Teaching kids the importance of fire safety and what to do in case of a fire at a young age, which proves to be beneficial. They will forever carry with them what these firefighters, policemen, and lifeline individuals do daily, and how they risk their lives every day to save the people that need them. When talking to Shade McAllen, a student at our high school, he informed us on some of the things he does to help out at the fire hall. When running calls, he typically helps out by getting the tools and other things to firefighters, which makes the calls easier to run.
