Annual Manatee Talent Show

The annual Manatee Talent show will be on Thursday, May 23rd, from 5-7pm in the Gary Hopper Hall (cafeteria). Tryouts will be held on Friday, May 3rd, during activity. Any student(s) wishing to tryout will need to turn in a signed parent permission slip NO LATER than 3pm on April 26th. Permission slips are available April 12th – 26th from the front office, music room, media center, online (via a download on the school’s website), or from Mrs. Riopelle (rm 418)/Mrs. Schenck (rm 501).

Student acts must be no longer than three minutes with music and costumes appropriate for a family show. All music must be on a karaoke/instrumental CD or performed live. (Vocal/singing must be performed with an instrumental track or accompaniment. No standard CD tracks may be used because of mic/sound quality issues.) *NOTE: Because tryouts will be held on an early release Friday, the actual audition will be held to approximately one minute per student in order to allow an opportunity for all students to have time to tryout.

If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Riopelle (Riopelle.erika@brevardschools.org) or Mrs. Schenck (schenck.sharmaine@brevardschools.org).

6th Grade Book Bash was AWESOME!!

Hey ya’ll…I wanted to share a heart smile! The joy that filled my heart watching our students shine, simply made my big ole heart smile!! I was so proud to see our students enjoy an old fashioned love of reading day! These students from Quest, Saturn, Suntree and Manatee read many Sunshine State books over the year and used them in several activities. I am certain that these kids will enjoy books for a lifetime! Their passion is real!

Our kids presented an animated Reader’s Theater using a chapter from The Epic Fail of Arturo Zamora written by Pablo Cartaya, created a book trailer for the book Ghost written by Jason Reynolds, did puzzles using clues from all 15 stories, played a Realia game where they identified items to all 15 stories, played a Kahoot “Jeopardy-style” game reviewing details from all 15 stories, played “First Line” trivia and we may have even sang a little Karaoke (that’s reading too, right!!)

Loved this day with the sweetest and most dedicated students!! They certainly represented Manatee with great character and pride!
