Welcome to Fourth Grade
PACE Testing - Please follow the link below if you are interested in having your child tested for PACE. Applications will not be accepted after December 6th.
Spelling Bee - Students in 4th grade have the opportunity to compete in the Spelling Bee. Study material was sent home on Wednesday. During the Spelling Bee, students may ask for any of the following: a definition, part of speech, use the word in a sentence, language(s) of origin, and alternate pronunciations. It is the student’s responsibility to make every effort to speak clearly and at a sufficient volume to be better understood. Classroom Spelling Bees will take place on Tuesday, December 19th during school. Two winners from each class will participate in the 4th and 5th grade school Spelling Bee on Tuesday, January 23rd.
History Fair - All 4th and 5th grade students are invited to participate in the History Fair which will be held on Feb. 7th. Projects will be due on Feb. 6th, and the theme is Conflict & Compromise in History. Flyers with more information will be sent home soon. Language Arts
The week of November 27th, students will demonstrate their learning from Unit 2.
Grammar Concepts: Common and Proper Nouns, Plural Nouns, Pronouns and Antecedents, Reflexive Pronouns, Prepositions and Prepositional Phrases.
Students should bring their writing binders home as a study reference.
Reading Concepts: Author's Purpose, Drawing Conclusions, Main Idea and Details, Fact and Opinion
Unit Vocabulary:
Students should ensure they have an understanding of all of the unit's vocabulary along with the completion of all vocabulary cards/slides. The vocabulary words are also listed on google classroom.

Math
Students will be Math MAP testing the week we return from Thanksgiving Break.
They will also work on a math project that will encompass the skills and strategies we have covered in the last two units.
Reminder: Math homework is assigned on Monday and due on Friday. The homework consists of multi-step problems. Please take some time to review these problems with you child before they are due. Thank you!
Science/Social Studies
Tomorrow students will take their unit test on physical properties of matter, mixtures, solutions, friction, and gravity.
After Thanksgiving break we will begin learning about the Native Americans who inhabited Texas prior to European settlers arriving. Students will conduct research to learn about these early inhabitants and their cultures.
Unit Vocabulary: adaptations, artifact, culture, cultural borrowing, economics, geography, traditions, exploration

- Parents, please remember to send your children to school with everything they will need to stay warm at recess.
- We would like to encourage your child to bring their electronic device. Electronic devices are being used in music, art, and guidance as well as the content area classes.
- SPARKLE Store will open tomorrow morning! Sparkles are an incentive that we give to our students throughout the day. These sparkles may be used on Fridays to buy privileges in the Sparkle Store. The Sparkle Store is open from 7:30-7:45 a.m. You will find a link below for what your students may buy with their sparkles.
