@ the Geiger Library

One book, one resource, one idea

Can you help?

Children's House - If you collect their books in the morning and send them my way, I'll get them all checked in.

Everybody - I'm still looking for collections for the display case. I'm kind of getting tired of the baseball cards ;)

Geiger Montessori Library

The mission of the library media program is to ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information.

At the library this week

UE - We are discussing our place in the universe and are working towards creating a short PowerPoint that takes us from Universe to Geiger. Along the way, we will be learning the name of our solar system, planet, continent, country, state, county, city and school. Next week we will be doing some basic coding.

LE - We are reviewing Venn Diagrams using the Smartboard. The next two weeks we will read funny books and discuss humor :D

CH - The Children's House students have been listening to Mother Goose rhymes and continuing the whole new world of checking out.

Books for the holidays

Looking for the perfect holiday gift? Share the joy of reading with the children in your life. When selecting a book, consider your child’s interests. A good nonfiction title about their pet, cooking, science experiments, a place they want to visit, origami or wherever their interest lies is always a good choice. And you can’t go wrong with a chapter book to read during the cold, rainy weather. This year the students seem to all be reading Star Wars books, the newest Wimpy Kid book and the titles nominated for Washington State’s Sasquatch Award http://www.wlma.org/sasquatch. And you can’t go wrong with a Guinness Book of World Records or a 2015 Almanac. Magazines are also a good choice. Some popular titles include National Geographic for Little Kids, Zoo Books and Kids Discover. There are several good bookstores in our area including King’s Books, University of Washington Tacoma bookstore, Half Price Books and Barnes & Noble in Lakewood. If you opt to order online from Amazon.com, remember to go through Geiger Homepage link www.tacoma.k12.wa.us/sites/schools/geiger/

Happy Reading!
