News from the Principal
December is here. We have 2 full weeks and 3 days until Winter Break. This year is just flying by. This trimester all grade levels will be focusing on research during their reading and writing block. The implementation of our new ARC curriculum has been going well and we all will start Unit 2 on Monday. Teachers have been planning and preparing to launch the trimester long research projects in each grade level.
Today you will receive your child's Progress Report. As we come out of the Pandemic, we continue to make the focus of Social Emotional Learning (SEL) a priority. This will help us move more quickly and with more confidence as the year progresses.
In addition, we have been addressing grade level standards through our grade level curriculum. The scores you see indicate where your student is performing at this particular moment in time in comparison to end of year expectations. Oftentimes standards are complex and have only begun to be addressed or students are working on prerequisite skills as they build into new grade level expectations. The levels you see (1/2/3/4) are not an indication of how successful your student is/isn’t being academically at this moment in time. Rather, the numbers indicate where we are in the stages of learning progression of end of grade level skills. Our hope is that all students will make progress towards and/or achieve end of grade level learning (3) by Spring Reporting.
Thanks for your continued help and partnership!
