Sound of Sun Prairie Newsletter

COVID-19 Update (April 6, 2020)

Good Morning Sound Of Sun Prairie Families,

It is with a heavy heart that I inform you that the 2020 Sound Season has been canceled. This decision does not come lightly as we know how important Sound is to all of us. The unprecedented cancelation of the DCI (Drum Corps International) Season removed 90% of our performance opportunities this summer. More importantly, though, the projections for the duration and severity of this epidemic make traveling and working closely as a group unrealistic and unsafe for this summer.

We know that you will have many questions regarding refunds for the money already paid as well as questions about returning equipment. Please know that we will refund your entire donation that had been paid to this point and we will give you more information about returning instruments at a later date.

The loss of Sound will affect you all in different ways. It is ok to be upset, sad and even frustrated. However, we can look at this as an opportunity to get better and stronger. Henry Ford once said, “When everything seems to be going against you, remember that the airplane takes off against the wind, not with it.” William Halsey Jr. said, “There are no great people in this world, only great challenges which ordinary people rise to meet.”

I challenge you to rise up and use this as an opportunity to get stronger and better.

It is our goal to reconvene the ensemble prior to the opening of Ashley Field in August. Again, we will continue to share information as we go through this process. Please reach out to Mrs. Sederquist, Mr. Davison or myself if you have any questions.

Now….go practice. Love that Sound
